How you can help

We are currently running a fundraising drive asking people to donate just £1 each to help us reach our target figure of £30,000.

This seems like an awful lot of money but as we all know, it doesn’t go very far!  You can donate towards our cause on this page, see what we will be spending the funds on once we reach the target and keep a track of how far we’ve got to go.

·Hay barn (we will cut our own hay to keep costs down but unfortunately we have absolutely nowhere to store it.  We have made a temporary rig this year but a proper structure would keep the Council far happier!)
·Car park surface (We need a surface on our parking area and the pot holes in the drive filled in.  Currently only 4x4’s and very careful lorry drivers can negotiate our track!)
·Water troughs (we are currently running over 1000 metres of hosepipe across the fields to buckets and Vanessa for one is really panicking about how we are going to manage with this is we have another bad winter.  Plus, there is a lot of wastage with buckets which is costing us a fortune as we are on a water meter.)
·Field shelters (although we are bordered by trees and hedges, the majority of our fields are in the middle of the property, so the horses have no shade from either wind, rain or sun, meaning they must be brought in in less than ideal conditions.)
·Fencing and gates (currently everything is fenced with electric tape and posts - I don’t know how many posts or how many metres but it’s too many.  The deer keep wrecking it and letting all the horses out and it is fiddly, costly and time consuming to maintain, asides from the fact there are a lot of horses out there who really don’t care and will go straight through it anyway.  This isof particular concern as we approach winter as once they have rugs on they can’t feel the shock anyway.  This is probably our number one priority at the moment.)
·Arena (also a priority.  We are completely unable to make any progress re-schooling or exercising beyond a bit of lunging as we have no suitable place to do so.  Rescue horses can be unpredictable at the best of times and an enclosed space with a reasonably soft surface is much less debilitating to fall off onto, plus the ground has been so hard this year we cannot risk the damage to the horses legs.)

We would be eternally grateful for any donations received.  We are fortunate in that we are able to carry out the work ourselves thus saving on labour costs so we are confident that we will be able to complete all of the work for the sum collected.  We will keep a record of all the donors in a special book for future viewing.Donating is simple, click on either the Paypal or the Gift Aid logo at the bottom of the page and follow the online instructions. If you would like to donate by cheque, please make payable to Wealden Horse Rescue Centre and post to the address on the contacts page. be sure and include your name and address so we can keep you updated.

Clearly we would also be grateful if someone were able to donate actual items, i.e. some troughs or water pipe or the surface for the arena, or indeed anything else - we are always in need of headcollars, leadropes, haynets and buckets (in useable condition). If you have any of these things please get in touch via the contacts page.

Thankyou's to our recent donators:
