Loaning a Horse
Our aim is to rehabilitate and, where possible, to re-home our rescue horses.  We want to find the right home for each horse so please give as much detail as you can on the application form to enable us to find the horse or pony which best suits your abilities and requirements. horses available to loan are marked with

We will contact you to discuss your application and invite you to meet the horse/s we think may be suitable.  If a match is found, we will conduct an inspection of the premises on which you wish to keep the horse.  Initially, we will offer the horse on a three-month trial and, if things are still going well at the end of this, then the loan will continue in perpetuity.  Our loans are subject to unannounced inspections at 3 months, 6 months and at the end of the first year.  Inspections are carried out half-yearly following that.

We do reserve the right to remove the horse from the loan home at any time if we are concerned in any way over its treatment and we retain full legal ownership of the horse at all times.

Please also ensure that you understand the following costs of the loan.  We ask for an initial fee on agreement of a loan between £20 - £250, depending on the horse.  This is to help with our costs in preparing the horse for loan, i.e. passport, vaccinations, micro-chipping, etc.  Following the end of the trial period, if the loan is to continue then we require a monthly donation of a minimum of £10 per horse for the duration of the loan, which must be paid by standing order.  All costs associated with the horse will be the responsibility of the loaner, including transport from the Centre to your home and vice-versa.

Please bear in mind that loaning a rescue horse is a big undertaking as it is very, very rare that an animal will come in who does not have any physical and/or psychological issues.  We are short on time and resources so we do not have a lot of opportunity to exercise and retrain the horses we have.  We will always be as honest as we can when speaking to a prospective loaner about a particular horse and would never loan a horse we considered to be ‘dangerous’.  However, working with a rescue horse and helping it to overcome its demons is incredibly rewarding and often creates a bond between horse and rider like no other.  We believe that each horse deserves a chance at leading a happy, fulfilling life and that there is a match for everyone out there!
